PA6G (Polyamide 6 G, also known as cast nylon or cast PA6) is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic material produced by the polymerisation of caprolactam in situ in a mould. Unlike extruded PA6, PA6G is manufactured by casting, which allows for larger dimensions, improved mechanical properties, and lower internal material stress. Due to its high wear resistance, good sliding properties, and high strength and rigidity, PA6G is widely used in mechanical engineering and automation.
Main properties:
-
High mechanical strength and rigidity
-
Excellent wear and friction resistance
-
Good chemical resistance to oils, greases, and fuels
-
Good thermal stability (continuous use up to ~110 °C)
-
Can be used without additional lubrication (depending on type)
-
Good machinability (turning, milling, drilling)
-
Low internal stress due to casting process
Typical applications:
-
Bearings and bushings without lubrication
-
Chain guides, sliders, gears
-
Rollers, sliding plates, spacers
-
Housings and covers of mechanical components
-
Industrial equipment and conveyor systems
-
Agricultural, construction, and mining equipment
