PA12 MO (or PA12 MoS₂) is a technical plastic based on polyamide 12, modified with the addition of molybdenum disulphide (MoS₂), which enhances its mechanical and tribological properties. The MoS₂ additive reduces friction, increases wear resistance, and improves dimensional stability. PA12 as a base material has lower moisture absorption than PA6 and PA66, providing better dimensional stability even in humid environments.
Main properties:
-
Extremely low moisture absorption
-
Very good dimensional stability
-
Good chemical resistance (oils, fuels, solvents)
-
High impact resistance, even at low temperatures
-
Improved wear resistance and lower friction due to MoS₂ additive
-
Better machinability and reduced sticking in sliding contact applications
Typical applications:
-
Bearings and sliding components
-
Guides and running surfaces
-
Gears, pulleys
-
Automotive components (e.g. fuel system parts)
-
Technical components exposed to wear and humidity
-
Parts used in mechanical engineering and fluid systems
